According to OAG report, capacity of the global airlines is up by 4% by the end of this year.

Global airline capacity for last year December 2009 shows a steep growth as compared to December 2008 as per the report of OAG. OAG is an aviation data organization which keeps track on the supply of the airlines and their seats.

It has been showed that there are 294.8 million seats available this December, which is 4% more as compared to the last year December. The increase of the frequencies of the flights also increased 1% from last year. According to John Weber, vice president of OAG - that there is an enormous hike in the frequency and capacity in the low cost sector wherein this is noticed that travelers tend to choose airlines which provide more economical facilities. According to the recent analysis it is seen that certain routes showing positive growth while on the other hand it is showing a strong decrease.

The difference between North America-central/South America in comparison to their frequency and capacity is down by 5% related to last year December 2008 record. For other European hubs a serious trend can be noticed that flights at Amsterdam are cut by 7% and seats are less booked by 6%.As because the characteristics of many markets have changed drastically there has been a common trend of passengers availing more and more economical classes.
